Collaborating with renowned directors such as Priyadarshan, Mani Ratnam, and S. Shankar, Manikandan’s prowess behind the camera became evident. The Asia Pacific Cine Awards (ASPA) recognized Manikandan’s brilliance by nominating him for Best Cinematography for his exceptional work on “Raavanan/Raavan” in 2010. The following year, he secured the Apsara Award for Best Cinematography for the film “Raavan.” Interestingly, Manikandan comes from a family of artists; his brother, V. Jeevananthan, is a National Awardee for his book on cinema titled “Thiraicheelai,” which received acclaim at the National Film Awards in 2010.
Born on January 13, 1968, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, Velayutham Manikandan is proud of his Indian heritage.
