Krishna Janmashtami 2023 is a Hindu religious festival that commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna. He is thought to be Lord Vishnu’s ninth incarnation (avatar). It is also known as Gokulashtami and falls in the month of Sravana, whereas the Gregorian calendar has it on September 7th, 2023. Shri Krishna Jayanti is celebrated with great zeal all over the world. This day is observed by fasting and worshipping Lord Krishna’s statues.

1. It is considered when Ashtami is enduring during midnight, Vrat must be held on the next day.
2. If it is still the Ashtami at midnight on the second day, keep fast on the next day.
3. If Ashtami is for midnight of 2 days and Rohini Nakshatra is for one night only, the subsequent day of that night must be evaluated for the fast.
4. If Ashtami is at midnight for 2 days and both of the nights bear Rohini Nakshatra, Krishna Janmashtami fast is taken on the second day.
There are a few rules for observing a fast on Krishna Janmashtami. No grains should be taken during the Janmashtami fast until the fast is broken the following day after sunrise. On Ekadashi, the rules for fasting will be in effect. The right time should be chosen to break the fast with parana. The parana, or fasting, associated with Krishna Janmashtami is observed the following morning after dawn, once Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra have passed. If Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra are not finished before Sunset, the fast may be broken during the day when one of the two is complete.

Worshipers fast until midnight. Midnight, conches and bells announce Krishna’s birth. Everyone sings Krishna’s Aarti and eats wonderful cuisine.
