Born on 28th January 1865 in Punjab, Lala Lajpat Rai earned the honorable title of ‘Punjab Kesari’ or ‘the Lion of Punjab’ due to his fearless and courageous spirit. Not only was he an influential leader, but he also made significant contributions to the economic development of the country by initiating the foundation of the Punjab National Bank.

Tragically, Lala Lajpat Rai’s life was cut short on 17th November 1928, as he succumbed to serious injuries sustained during a protest against the Simon Commission. Despite his untimely demise, his legacy and contributions continue to inspire generations. In his honor, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Hisar, Haryana, is named after him.

K.M Cariappa Jayanti 2024: In addition to Lala Lajpat Rai’s birth anniversary, 28th January is also celebrated and remembered for other significant events. One such event is the Jayanti (birth anniversary) of Kodandera Madappa Cariappa, who holds the distinction of being the first Commander-in-chief of the Indian Army.
