22.1.2024 Declared as Dry Day

In anticipation of the grand Ram Temple ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, several states in India have declared January 22 as a dry day. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Uttarakhand will all observe this day as a dry day, meaning that liquor shops will remain closed. The Excise Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh has specifically directed the closure of all liquor shops in the state. Not only that, but BJP leaders in Jharkhand and Delhi have also voiced their demand for a ban on the sale of liquor on January 22. As of now, the Delhi government has not yet decided on this demand, but the anticipation and preparations for the grand Ram Mandir inauguration continue to be significant.

Subject: Half-day closing (till 2.30 P.M.) of Central Government Offices, Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments on 22 January 2024 – reg.

The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya will be celebrated on 22nd January 2024
across India. To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that
all Central Government Offices, Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments
throughout India will be closed for half day till 1430 hours on 22nd January, 2024.

2. All Ministries/Departments of Government of India may bring the above decision to
the notice of all concerned.
