Tamil Nadu celebrates Pongal, the Tamil New Year, Aadi Perukku, and other festivals for local gods. Major Hindu festivals like Deepavali, Ayudha Poojai, Saraswathi Poojai, Ayya Vaikunda Avataram, Krishna Jayanthi, and Vinayaka Chathurthi, as well as Muslim festivals like Eid ul-Fitr, Bakrid, Milad un Nabi, and Muharram, and Christian festivals like Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter are also celebrated. The Mahamagam bathing festival is held once in 12 years in Kumbakonam. Tamil Nadu Government has released the public and bank holiday list every year. The Tamil Nadu government has released a holiday notification for 2023 stating that all government offices, schools, banks, PSU units and private sector offices will follow it.

CG Office Holidays 2023 in TN
The Department of Personnel and Training has released the list of holidays for Central Government Offices in Delhi for 2023, which will also be applicable for Central Government employees in Tamil Nadu. The State Committee of CGEWCC will decide on the list of holidays for the year.
Tamil Nadu Bank Holiday List 2023
The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order in relation to the observance of holidays for the year 2023. The public holidays identified under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) are listed in the notification appended to this order, and will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. Additionally, all offices under the control of the Government of Tamil Nadu will be closed on the dates specified in the notification, with the exception of the Annual Closing of Bank Accounts on April 1, 2023, and all Saturdays and Sundays in 2023. It should be noted that these public holidays will also apply to all State Government Undertakings/Corporations/Boards. Moreover, under the “Explanation” to section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881), and pursuant to Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, No.20-25-26, Public-1, dated June 8, 1957, Tamil Nadu’s government has declared that in addition to Sundays, certain days will be public holidays for the year 2023; however, this applies only to Commercial Banks and Co-operative Banks in Tamil Nadu.
